Rough moc up to explore upper pattern & lacing system:
Focus was on adapting heritage lacing system / lockdown for lightweight modern execution.
INITIAL EXPLORATION OF UPPER AS BOOTIE CONSTRUCTION.
Midsole exploration:
Midsole “Shells” were modeled in Rhino & 3d printed to explore form & proportion.
Shells were chosen to decrease modeling & printing time.
Final direction was sent as .stl to supplier along with tech pack to eliminate need for interpretation of desired surfaces & reduce corrections needed.
HARDWARE DEVELOPMENT:
DEVELOPMENT OF VARIOUS HARDWARE COMPONENTS.
UTILIZING SOLIDWORKS & RHINO DEPENDING ON COMPLEXITY AND TYPE.
VARIOUS PLASTIC COMPOUND 3D PRINTS AS WELL AS METAL 3D PRINTING. CNC / HAND MILLED COMPONENTS.
PRODUCTION / MATERIAL EXPLORATION:
EXPLORATION OF CONSTRUCTION & MATERIAL FINISH OF SINGLE PIECE 6061 ALUMINUM.
aluminum has 3 surfaces finishes to achieve concept - mirror polished / brushed / etched.
FULLY RECYCLABLE with 1:1 material properties (no virgin material needed).
Advanced / future state concepts:
EXPLORATION OF 3d modeling and construction using algorymthic / parametric design.
Blue sky exploration.
rhino + grasshopper.
